Enterprise is the only star trek TV shows that i watch, because, it goes into detail about the history of how earth became invovled with, the vulcans, andorians, and the other races out there, not to mention the begining of the Federation.

Other series mention the beginning of the Federation as well, and the viewer is left to piece together a timeline using nothing more than a good imagination and a few stray facts. I tend to enjoy watching the series and piecing together a timeline as I watch, as opposed to being provided with the information.
In some ways, Enterprise represents the hardships of space travel better than the other series. The Federation is not yet fully developed, and many first contacts are still in the future. If the ship is in trouble, they are on their own, without much technology, and no outside help.
