Permalink Reply by kukalakana on February 23, 2012 at 4:47pm I'll give it some thought as well. Do you have any policy on submissions that are already up on other sites (such as ff.net)?
No. Infact, my story in the issue has been up on the usstamerlane.com site for over a year. But the digest gives you alot more chances for the story to be seen and read.
In fact, it shouldn't be too much longer before issue 2 is released- but don't let that stop you. We want to keep things going as long as we can and in order to do that, we need stories.
Permalink Reply by kukalakana on February 24, 2012 at 2:39pm Thanks I'll give it a closer look sometime soon. Or meanwhile if you want to, you can use any of my stories that fit your criteria. (Everything I have so far is on fanfiction.net with a link on my profile page. Just in case you don't want to wait for me to pick something.)
It would be better if you pick the story. That way, You'll be the one to chose your "First" story. The guidlines that I posted the link to, will show you how to submit it- the format and so on. There's also a link there that you can send it to.
Permalink Reply by kukalakana on February 24, 2012 at 7:46pm That's cool I was going to anyway -- the other part was just an extra option.
Permalink Reply by kukalakana on February 24, 2012 at 9:43pm All right I'll pick maybe a novella and a short story for consideration but before I put them back into a .doc format I would first like to know: Do you have any preferences for spacing (single, double, separated paragraphs etc?) / page breaks on chapters / headings and titles / any other preferred formatting on submissions?
Thanks. K.
If you want something in large type, put it in large type- like the title. If you have illustrations, enclude them in the file and indicate within the story where you want them placed. For example, if your 4 pages into the story and want a picture placed half-way down the page, place a note there- ( Place picture #1 here.) That way Kirok will know where you want the pics. If the story has chapters, just place the chapter number where it should be. No big deal. Kirok perfers word doc. because that's the format he works with.
Permalink Reply by Kirok on February 25, 2012 at 5:02am Hi Kirok of L'Stok here,
Personal Logs Issue 2 is in the final stages of editing right now so its definately closed for submissions but we'll soon be opening for submissions for pdf paperbacks. These are three that we released last year...
A PG-13, ENT fan fiction novel: written by J. R. Gershen-Siegel Lili has found the man of her dreams... dreams that soon become nightmares! What starts as an erotic fantasy turns into deadly danger that spans the polar opposites of good and evil. Should she trust her feelings for this lover from the Mirror Universe who haunts her sleeping hours? Can love wash the blood from his hands? 395 p. 'A' MMP format, released February 23, 2011
Gershen-Siegel : "Intolerance"
A PG-13, ENT fan fiction novel: written by J. R. Gershen-Siegel There are women coming to the Enterprise! Travis Mayweather proposes a friendly competition with his friends – whoever gets the girl first wins. But then the winner gets more than he bargained for, and learns just how much he can take. How much can you tolerate? 180 p. 'A' MMP format, released May 9, 2011
Shull : "Retribution"
A PG-13, Star Trek: The Next generation fan fiction novel by T.L.Shull. Four months after the end of the Dominion War, the Cardassian Union is on the precipice of civil war when the gruesome discovery of a massacre of hundreds of prisoners, including Cardassian rebels, at the Hutet Labor Camp shakes Cardassia to its core. Evidence suggests that members of the Cardassian military were directly involved in the war crimes, but there were no surviving eye-witnesses to the event. One extraordinary man witnessed the horrific scene. Yet he bears no love for the Federation or for Cardassia. Will he be willing to tell his tale to help them, or will his desire for revenge jeopardize the potential for peace? 290p. 'A' MMP format, released October 4, 2011
We'll be looking for something at least novella size and would be happy to publish an anthology as long as it was either part of a series, tied together in some way as the "Captain's Table" books were or had some other common theme, perhaps a ship or a character.
You are absolutely right, we will have a style guide that we want our authors to respect, it is in draft form and we will be putting it online shortly. With all due respect to the community at FanFiction.net, the output there is so basic as to be non-existent, so I appreciate you wanting to hand your work over in the format that we will need.
We only have limited production resources (mainly me) so, to be fair we call for submissions as a slot comes open, barring happy accidents when something good drops in our lap and we have an opening.
Gotta blaze!
