What do you think....
What do you think the next generation of Star Trek fans will look like? What would they want in a Star Trek movie or series? Will it be a "Back to the Future " part 2 type of fans, high teck use the Robot fans as in " I-Robot", or will it be the same, hence the doom of the Earth come 2012? Just something to ponder as we raise our kids, and get ready for raising the grand-kids.....

There seems like a lot more Trek fans since the movie came out. I'm always coming across people--in restaurants, libraries, bookstores, etc--talking about or mentioning something Star Trek related. They vary in age and gender a lot, too. I figure most of it is a result of the last movie, which seemed to me a lot more like a regular old Hollywood flick with the usual load of special effects. Don't get me wrong, I love it. But I get the impression if the recent film is what's gotten all the Trek fervor going, then you're going to see a lot less "nerds" attracted to it and a lot more ordinary folk taking up their crowns--or combages, or whatever! The way I see it, it'll be retro in a cool way to like Star Trek, but not the Star Trek that most of us grew up with.
