TREKSPACE

The social network for Star Trek Fans!

What was the most "Trek" thing you have done in your mundane life? Me?
1. I wore my Star Fleet uniform (complete with pips and working communicator pin) to work on Halloween. My co-workers loved it, but according to them, they would have to be "crazy" to do what I did. Of course I ignored them. . . . . .

2. At a convention (Shore Leave 2002) I sat and posed for an artist to draw me as a Klingon in full Klingon armor, holding a bat'leth. You see part of the results in my profile photo!

I got close and personal with Jimmy Doohan at a Star Trek Convention in NYC in the late 80's. I was the last person on his autograph line and he was full of Scotch by then. He kept telling me to get closer for the photo my friend David was preparing to take of us. So, I have a picture of me and Scotty cheek to cheek with a bottle of Bell's Scotch Whiskey in the background.

Oh, I almost forgot. I went to "Trek The Concert" last November in Denver. It was awesome and was hosted by John DeLancie & Robert Picardo. The music of the various Star Trek Series was performed by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. I enjoyed watching the percussionists falling over themselves while trying to keep up with the scores. It was the day after Hallowe'en, so many people were dressed up and they looked terrific. The concert itself was delightful!

Flew to vegas and tried out for a position as a Klingon for the (back when) new opening of the Hilton's Star Trek Experience. Have dressed up as a Andorian at conventions in the seventies. Have written for Star Trek publications, (don't ask its a secret endeavor). Also have been known to live by the laws of given by "The Great Bird of the galaxy." Least but not lastly my office looks like a frackin Museum to all things Star Trek and sci-fi in general, mixed with much poetry and novels throughout.

I have to disagree with that. I think the Star Wars costumed fans are percieved as crazy too. There was a special on the release of episode III that had Triumph the insult comic dog talking to and making fun of people waiting in line dressed in costume. To be fair, some of them DID seem a little crazy, but the costumes had nothing to do with it. I myself LOVE wearing costumes, but because of the public perception I feel halloween is the only time I can do it without ridicule. I wish I had the guts to just do what I wanted!

The Trek-iest thing I ever did was actually part of a personal protest at work. The HR manager was giving a presentation on why our company was posting bi-lingual signs.(English-Spanish) all over the place. A comment she made about respecting our non-English speaking, minority workforce was a sign of respect. When I asked if we would do the same for anyone who worked there, she replied 'of course' So for the next 4 days I walked around work speaking, tlhIngon, and acting like I need a translator. Needless to say, the Klingon signs were never posted, but the Spanish signs were taken down.
(And before anyone tells me what an jackass I was, understand I tried to immigrate to Germany. Except for port of entries...NO other country except Canada posts bi-lingual for the general public.) (Yes I speak both German and Klingon)

It ain't much compared ta others, but I'd say probably carrin' my make-shift Constitution starships ta school prior ta Christmas Break. From there, one of 'em was put up as part of a display.

I wrote my English Mid-Term on the principles of Logic. Throughout I refrenced Spock. I got a 98, so I was proud, even though my teacher laughed at me.

LOL! That would have been funny in a movie or TNG episode - a brief encounter with Ston to see how things worked out.

Not decietfull - just logical! There were many who felt Spock a "traitor" and "tainted" by his human heritage.
