Hey, Darlena.  Can you post a photo of that banner here. Surely you want to show off your prize to us!

Hello all! You know there use to be a MSN group called 'Black Trek' but they closed down. I must say last year I saw more people of color at the vegas con than ever before so I guess we are coming out! Fenna, you would love the banner I bidded on at the auction of Cpt. Sisko! It shows two faces of him one with the mustache and one without, one in the red uniform, and one in the black and gray. I have it hanging on my living room wall across from the wall that has a painting of the space station. Now get this, the wall with the banner faces my bedroom and my bed faces that wall, so when I wake up in the morning, guess whose looking at me! Makes a gal git up and say YES SIR! GOOD MORNING SIR! hehehehehe

Something kept popping up on the screen in the Cyrillic alphabet. Darned if I knew what it was. So, I learned nothing.

Thanks for the Welcome!

Sadly, I've only watched ST XI 3 times and I do own it on DVD. I guess I better watch it 2 more times to catch up!

Hi Kelly. I think I'd have everyone beat because I had a Russian bootleg version long before the movie came out and watched it weekly. I was so happy to get my hands on the real thing though!!

How would Star Trek interact with the city of domes?

All I know for sure is that if the original Enterprise ever encountered this kind of society, Captain Kirk would've said, "The hell with the Prime Directive! We have to put a stop to this madness!" And then blasted the place from orbit. After that, he probably would have checked into the Love Shop for an extended shore leave.See More

October 22: On This Day In Science Fiction History

Jeff Goldblum has always done some interesting work.  He captivated audiences as the scientist slowly losing his mind -- but not his humanity -- in David Cronenberg's remake of The Fly; and he walked us through the paces of Chaos Theory in Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park.  And lest we forget to celebrate our…See More

"@Ed: Makes sense. The desert is sort of an empty stage, so to speak. You see it used a lot in movies of that era: westerns, biker movies, hippies-being-terrorized-by-cannibals, etc. I love Australia, and Aussie filmmakers have always made good use…"

"@Mike: you know, I remember reading somewheres in print back a few decades how effects-work of the 50's, 60's, and early 70's was fairly limiting in live action due to some demands of the effects' people.  (I wish I remember…"

"I never quite understood why, in "Damnation Alley," everything turned into a desert? Vegas makes sense, sort of, but everything else was just for visual flare. Do you suppose this movie was what drove Jan Michael Vincent to drink? "
