In the Star Trek world its ok to say your are from the Americam mid west. All others have to have an accent to tell the audience where they are from. The American film industry does not see Canadians or any other race on the Enterprise.

A Canadian Prime Minister, Lester B. Pearson, was instrumental in forming the United Nations which can be looked at as a precursor to the United Federation of Planets.

For some reason, the fact that William Shatner was born in Canada makes me happy. But I think in the next Star Trek television series, there should be a Star Trek bridge crew character that is a Canadian!
