There was a Fan Fiction series that had cool art. What I remember is there was a human named Cyrus that was raised by Vulcans. The counselor was named Flynn and the picture was of Uncle Phil from "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."  Anyone else know this? message me.

I absolutely LOVE quality fanfic (there's a big difference between quality fanfic and just average fluff). I used to write Trek stuff all of the time, but, as life presents us with challenges, finding the time is always the biggest obstacles. I'm currently writing non-Trek science fiction, but my hope is, some day, to revisit the countless ideas for Trek novels I used to tinker with. My stuff, FEDERATION'S END, is out there on the web in all kinds of places. It turns up every now and then on some sites where I haven't said "ok" but the net tends to be like that.

Tripped over my feet today and stumbled in some cybernetic manner upon this group -- like Alice through the rabbit hole.

Of course I agree with the other posters here (so far.) Thinking of possibly branching into another archive (than fanfiction.net) at some point but still a little doubtful in that regard. I guess it would seem a little too much like... Actually, I'm not entirely sure what it would seem like.

So yup thanks heaps for starting up this group. Of course there is also Writers & Roleplayers on Trekspace but it tends to focus more on roleplaying these days. Certainly I'm going to be keeping an eye on this place and see if it takes off.

Hi, I have to agree with ellenbetty. I've been posting fanfiction since 1996. And there's a lot of it on fanfiction.net as well. Whether or not all those writers are here at TrekSpace is another question. I'm hoping some of them are. You see, I'm on a quest. For those of you who love to read and write Trek fanfiction, alt.startrek.creative is a newsgroup that needs you. I first joined the group in 1996 and it holds a dear place in my heart. Much of the reasons for that are the ASC Awards. Each year they are held to generate feedback for stories posted in that year. How? Well, you vote by giving feedback. The more you write, the more points your vote is worth. It's a beautiful system that provides and overwhelmingly positive outcome. Even if you don't win, you likely got feedback!

Only this year the Awards may not happen. Much Trek fanfic is now happening in other places throughout the internet. Less is happening in alt.startrek.creative. And so, with not enough stories this year, the awards are being cancelled. There is still a chance though, to turn that around. The awards year is Feb 1st to Jan 31st, so we've got to the end of the month to get some stories posted to alt.startrek.creative. We might just save those awards yet.

If you write fanfic, consider yourself invited. If you love to read fanfic, likewise. If you know someone who writes fanfic, please invite them! You'll need a newsgroup reader (Outlook Express can do it) or just use GoogleGroups. Subscribe to alt.startrek.creative. Post stories before Jan 31st. T hen stick around to vote in the awards this summer. With your help, we can keep this tradition going! And you might find another audience for your fanfic!
