In the context of the new movie Zachary Quinto was perfect as Spock. It's the new Kirk that I have problems with. I just can't see him outwitting Khan or the Romulan Commander in "Balance of Terror".But the new Spock and ( also a recasting of the role) the female Romulan commander in "The Enterprise Incident" could really be hot considering what they can show today that they couldn't in the 60s. Finally since a new cast and ship equals a new universe not locked down by established Star Trek canon it opens up new possibilities. And that means we can throw out Kirk's death in "Generations" and in the next Star Trek TV series maybe a new version of Star Trek: The Next generation with a new crew and ship. Regardless change is inevitable. And if for the better lets go for it.
