Here'a video on YouTube you might like. It presents a short film of a Jewish service being held on German soil by American troops in October of 1944. Pretty incredible. It's cool to hear the soldiers singing "Ein Kelohenu":-)

Can you believe it? The New Year, 5770, is almost here! Shanah Tovah, rabotai!
I've been trying to learn to play the shofar so I can join in the general congregational mayhem when all are invited to play. Got a ways to go. ::phthththt!::: See what I mean?
Neighbors and I are already planning for the succah in my backyard. Should be a hoot the way I build...:-)

I will soon be heading off to the glorious Pennsic War in western PA. Oddly, happily, one of the marvelous things I can look forward to finding there among the throngs of medieval reenactors, are friendly and learned Jews. Last year I enjoyed a class taught by a beautifully garbed professor from NYC on medieval Hebrew poetry. Drums, Middle Eastern dance, and medieval Hebrew poetry! Can't beat it with a stick!
