Capt. Jeff - Right. Let's get this thing moving. Clear all moorings.
Ensign Lomar - Moorings cleared.
Capt. Jeff - Start her up.
Lt. Brex - Aye, sir. All systems are powering up. Warp core is stabilizing.
Capt. Jeff - Power up the impulse drive.
Ensign Lomar - Impulse standing by.
Capt. Jeff - Very well. Take her out.

The Starship Powhatan let out a low roar as she pulled out of drydock for the first time in over twenty years. Captain Jeff could almost see the cobwebs break away.

Ensign Lomar - We're clear of drydock.
Capt. Jeff - Set a course for Rigel 5. Warp factor five.
Ensign Lomar - Warp drive online. Ready to engage.
Capt. Jeff - Warp speed.

Lin' Tok- I've got a Federation starship on sensors, sir. Heading for Rigel 5 at Warp 5
Kadir- The first of many by a Federation invasion fleet. Tolomek, set an intercept course, cloak us, and engage at Warp Six.
Tolomek- As you wish.

The IKS Va' Tal cloaks and as her engins groan as they engaged to transport Kadir and his intrepid crew to Rigel Five to engage the Federation.

Feltor- Shall I inform the rest of-
Kadir- YOU WILL NOT DO SUCH IF YOU WANT TO DIE AN HONORLESS DEATH!. Bregma, bring weapons systems to full power.

Bergma loyally carries out the order and quickly brings all weapons systems on-line.

Lt. Diaz - Captain, I just caught a glimpse of something at the edge of our sensors.
Capt. Jeff - And?
Lt. Diaz - It just...disappeared, sir.
Capt. Jeff - Yellow alert. Run sensor scans. Search for warp trails.
Lt. Diaz - Aye, sir. Scanning...
A long silence follows as the stars streak by the ship.
Lt. Diaz - I've got something, sir. Warp trails lead to five thousand kilometers off our stern. They match Klingon warp signatures.
Capt. Jeff - Ensign Savali, best guess on their location.
Ensign Savali - Calculating...
Capt. Jeff - Red alert. Ready phasers and quantum torpedoes. They'll have a surprise to await them.

Did I mention it had undergone an extreme refit to the 24th century? She's more tricked out than the Millenium Falcon.

Kadir- You've got to be kidding me.
Lin' Tok- It may be a small ship, but it's been heavily refitted for modern times.
Kadir- Bah. Tolomek, decloak us 125 kelicams off their bow. Bregma, aquire weapons lock and fire at will.

The Negh'Var-class Va'Tal decloaks off of the Constitution's bow.

Bregma- Lock aquired. Firing all weapons.

The shields whine and flicker as they absorb the disruptor fire.

Capt. Jeff - Send them a message. Tell them to cease fire immediately.
Ensign Lomar - No response.
Capt. Jeff - Keep trying! Fire torpedoes!

Six quantum torpedoes streak out below the shuttle bay and batter the Va'Tal's shields.

Ensign Savali - Direct hit, Captain! Their shields are at sixty-eight percent.
Capt. Jeff - Fire forward phase cannons and ventral phaser strips.

Eight phase bolts trickle across the Va'Tal's shields and two x-type (Voyager) beams pierce the shields and darken the left wing.

Lt. Diaz - We've pierced their shields. Thermal damage to their port disruptors.
Ensign Savali - They're maneuvering for another pass.

The Powhatan lurches forward from a direct quantum torpedo.
Capt. Jeff - Damage report!

Ensign Savali - Our ventral phasers have been damaged. Shields at eighty-four percent.
Capt. Jeff - Evasive maneuvers. Turn us around and lock aft torpedoes.
Ensign Savali - Aye, sir.

The Powhatan turns completely around in about seven seconds due to its replaced impulse drive.

Capt. Jeff - Fire torpedoes!

Four quantum torpedoes rip through the Negh'Var class ship.

Capt. Jeff - Slip under their firing arcs, Ensign. Z minus three thousand degrees and yaw to starboard six thousand degrees.
Ensign Savali - Aye, sir.
Capt. Jeff - Target analysis.
Lt. Diaz - Their shields are low, and their hull is compromised in two places. Little damage to any vital systems, except for destroying their port disruptors.
Ensign Savali - Captain, they're reversing.
Capt. Jeff - Reverse impulse, three quarters.
Ensign Savali - Too late!

A green beam shot out from under the massive battleship and dug along the Powhatan's gleaming hull.

Capt. Jeff - Report!
Lt. Diaz - Captain, our hull has been breached. Minor casualties on Decks 4 and 6.
Capt. Jeff - Shield status?
Ensign Savali - Seventy-one percent, sir.
Capt. Jeff - Target their bridge, aft phasers. Fire at will. Reload aft torpedoes, plasma only.
Ensign Savali - Torpedoes ready, sir.
Capt. Jeff - Fire!

Captain Jeff sat in his chair as his ship fired four plasma torpedoes and two phaser beams into the Va'Tal.

Tolomek- Moving us to evade incoming torpedoes.
Kadir- Report!
Lin' Tok- Shields down to sixty percent. Breaches on the lower decks, and the port disruptor is out
Kadir- So that's how they want to play. Tolomek evasive manuvers, Bregma target their incoming torpedoes with our primary disruptors, put the larger foward disruptor and torpedoes on that pathetic little ship. Fire when ready. Feltor, work on increasing shield strenght back up. Fire torpedoes and disruptors at will, targeting engineering and their Bridge.

Bregma and Feltor go about to complete their assigments, navigating around the debris from the onslaught

Kadir- Two can play at this game. If we lose shields, ram them full speed and arm all warheads to explode on contact. Send them this message.
Feltor- Yes sir.

Ensign Savali - Captain, they're destroying our warheads.
Ensign - LoMar - Sir, I'm receiving a transmission. They say they're going to ram us if we break through their shields.
Capt. Jeff - Maximum impulse speed of a standard Negh'Var class?
Ensign Savali - Roughly five kilometers per second.
Capt. Jeff - Ready auxiliary power to impulse engines on my command.
Lt. Brex - Aye, sir.
Capt. Jeff - Continue running through phaser arcs. Load a transphasic casing with a Mark IV warhead in Torpedo Bay 2.
Ensign Savali - Aye, sir. Loading torpedo.
Capt. Jeff - Put me through to the Va'Tal, audio only.
Ensign LoMar - Aye, sir. Audio only.
Capt. Jeff - Klingon commander, you have one minute to surrender your vessel or we will obliterate it. You picked the wrong starship to attack.
He flicked his finger and the transmission ended.
Capt. Jeff - Now we wait. Lock phasers on their impulse drive.
Ensign Savali - Phasers locked. Torpedo loaded.

Feltor- They want us to surrender
Lin'Tok- They have weapons lock, as well
Kadir- Those petaQ fell for the bait as planned. Load the quantom olivum ore we obtained into torpedoes. Once installed, fire when they fire. Tolomek, takes us to Warp 1.5, out from here.....
Tolomek- (Out? We're running?)
Kadir-...then swings us back around into the system a Warp 4 once we reach the edge.
Tolomek- Taking us out.
Bregma- Proceeding with the second phase as planned.
Kadir- Lin'Tok, match or warp signature with the Federation's; Bregma, cloak us once he does so.
Tolomek- We have reached the outter edge of the system.
Kadir- Hold here and see if the Powhatan will do as we expect.

Lt. Diaz - Sir, they've re-entered warp.
Capt. Jeff - Continue tracking them. Maintain weapons lock.
Ensign Savali - Captain, they're entering our phasers' maximum range.
Capt. Jeff - Hmm...
Lt. Diaz - Sir, they've exited the system.
Capt. Jeff - Transfer power to the slipstream drive. Mask our trail as best you can.
Lt. Brex - Aye, sir. Power transferred.
Capt. Jeff - Plot an intercept course on their last known trajectory and adjust slipstream speed to double their speed.
Ensign Lomar - Course plotted. Slipstream ready.
Capt. Jeff - Ensign Savali...
He paused.
Ensign Savali - Yes, sir?
Capt. Jeff - Remodulate the photosensitive hull coating to match the surrounding stars.
Ensign Savali - Aye, sir. Remodulating... Done. We're invisible.
Capt. Jeff - Now cut power to all secondary systems and running lights. Minimal power to life support, shields, propulsion, and weapons.
Lt. Brex - Power diverted. We're running dark.
Capt. Jeff - Engage slipstream drive.
Ensign Lomar - Aye, sir. Entering slipstream space.

Lin'Tok- Sir, I've lost them.
Kadir begins to speak but Lin'Tok continues before anything is said.
Lin'Tok- Last sensor scan we took, they've entered a slipstream.
Kadir growls deaply then speaks-....Cowards. Open a channel on all frequiences.
Feltor- Open sir.
Kadir- Federation Starship Powhatan, from where we stand, you're nothing more than honorless cowards. We shall de-cloak only after you disengage. (signals to cut channel)

Ensign LoMar - Captain, we're receiving a transmission.
Capt. Jeff - On speakers.
Ensign LoMar - Aye, sir.
Federation Starship Powhatan, from where we stand, you're nothing more than honorless cowards. We shall de-cloak only after you disengage.
Captain Jeff sat back in his chair and smiled.
Capt. Jeff - Honorless? Ensign, bring us nose to nose with the alien ship, drop to sublight. Remain cloaked until my mark.
Ensign LoMar - Aye, sir. Moving into position.
Capt. Jeff - Ready quantum torpedoes and phasers.
Ensign Savali - Phasers locked. Torpedoes loading...
Ensign LoMar - Nose to nose, sir. In position.
Capt. Jeff - Torpedoes?
Ensign Savali - Torpedoes ready now, sir.
Capt. Jeff - Restore power to all systems and de-cloak on my mark.
Lt. Brex - Power diversion ready.
Capt. Jeff - Now! Fire quantum torpedoes into their secondary hull.
Ensign Savali - Aye, sir!
The Powhatan de-cloaks and fires 6 quantum torpedoes right into the belly of the Klingon ship.
Lt. Brex - Power restored.
Capt. Jeff - Send them this transmission, Ensign.
Ensign LoMar - Ready.
Capt. Jeff - We refuse to disengage except under your unconditional surrender. Failure to surrender will result in execution. End transmission.
