Please "sign" this e-petition to get George Takei, Captain Hikaru Sulu, on the Paramount Pictures' Tournament of Roses Parade float.  http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/georgetakeiattherosebowlparade/ (See artist's rendering of the float on my Trekspace blog.) 

It was Facebook fans who set up the petition and started a page supporting it - at http://www.facebook.com/pages/George-Takei-at-the-Rose-Bowl-Parade/...  - and there is no cost. (Ignore the page that asks for contributions after you "sign"; that's just for the petition site. You can close the page, your vote was counted.) There are over 25,000 votes already!

STARFLEET RED ALERT WARNING FOR PET OWNERS:

WARNING!!!!! It was on Fox news earlier that 70 dogs have died as a result of eating chicken jerky treats made from chicken that has come from China. Kingdom Pets brand from Costco is one of them. Also certain Blue Buffalo brand pet foods have a recall for the same thing. Please re post and make sure all your doggie friends are aware of this. Do not buy any foods made in China!

I need to post a warning, a RED ALERT if you will about another Southern California Trek Fans elisting, this on Yahoo Groups. I joined this group, which seems to be run by a guy named Lorenzo, who has posted all of the messages there. No listing of members other than Lorenzo is provided. When you get messages into your email box from the group it looks like a regular announcement. But when you click on the prompt from your email provider, "is this safe?" or some such, it then turns the message into one of those email fraud scheme emails posted from Accra, Ghana demanding your participation in a fraud scheme. The ole' Captain here does not want anyone hurt out there!
