Hi Billy,SAaB has some holes no doubt. But,the general specifics were hinted at. Remember, our planet was partly created from space dust, call it big bang what ever you choose to term the very beginning. Earth and the Chig Planet were from the same elements that created both Planets. Earth being an oxygen sustaining Minshara Class planet and the Chig's home world being a gaseous planet they breathed Methane and other gases. Because the Chigs had been exploring the galaxies longer than Humans, they had discovered that Earth and their planet were akin. Which is why the Chig medic that was the keeper of the nursery on the Chig homeworld picked up the dirt and explained with sign language that in effect we are the same. Different species yes,but from the same creation. Same galaxy, etc.
It is too bad that we did not get to see Earth and the Chig's resolve the conflict. I mean the entire war began because of the Teleus Colony being placed on the planet near the Chig's homeworld. And they (Chigs) had already warned the people of Earth not to put colonies in that planatary system. Of course the Board of Directors for Teleus and Vesta, did not disclose this information to the General Public nor the MIlitary of Earth. And they put the colonies there and the Chigs attacked,Vesta and Teleus.

The planet the two colonies were to be on,was a Chig planet as well, they had sacred burial grounds on that planet. The Chigs were not trying to regain Earth. They were trying to keep Mankind off their Worlds.

I wish we could get a resolve of that show! tell us what happened to everyone after that ending and were the Chigs really originally from Earth?? And why would they leave and then fight to regain it??

Yes, SAAB is a wonderful futuristic depiction of the Marines and other military branches. T. C. McQueen is my fave.

Our SFI Chapter is sorta a loose mix of Star Trek,Firefly, SAAB, and Andromeda.

When I joined the Star Fleet International's Marine Corps, the first thing I did was re-watch SAAB "Space Above And Beyond". that show is an Awesome look into the differences between traditional Space Explorers and Space Marines.

Tucker Smallwood is great,I loved him on SAaB and Enterprise, among other Trek appearances. He plays the guitar so well. Sounds like you all had a blast at Babelcon III.

I met Tucker Smallwood at Babelcon III in Pittsburgh years ago; a number of members of the old Space Ready Reserve were there. Tucker had a guitar with him and hung out in the bar playing and chatting until after last call - good times.

"Incarnation", an album that Tucker's on, is excellent... but probably out of print. I obtained a copy years ago and consider it to be the all-but-official soundtrack of 3am.

True, SAaB was a great show, and should have lasted much longer. Alas,Fox shoved it into a Sports night and it got preempted many times for a Sports cast.

This was a fabulous TV series that should have run much longer than its one season, just like Firefly. I'm also a huge fan of the new Battlestar Galactica show & one cannot help but notice the similarities between S:A&B & BG even though S:A&B premiered eight years earlier. Both shows have a war theme to them, both are done in a grim, gritty, realistic style, both involve human looking robots(Selicates on S:A&B,Cylons on BG),both generally avoid doing spatial phenomenon of the week stories,& while S:A&B were in a war with an alien civilization, both series eschewed a galaxy teeming with various alien life forms,& you don't see either show replete with all types of futuristic hand tools like we do on all of the Trek incarnations. I feel that these two series brought a different look & style to sf TV that we had not seen before & each series deserves credit for giving us that.
