- I was born in Boston in 1986 and lived the first seven years of my life in Newton, Massachusetts. In 1994 my family moved to Boulder, Colorado, where I “grew up.” Sensing a need to return to reality, for our own sanity if nothing else, we moved to Ithaca in 2004 after I had graduated high school. I received my Associate’s from TC3, but have also taken classes at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Cornell. I am currently obtaining my B.A. in Political Science from the University at Buffalo.
My mother Danielle is from Germany and also lives in Ithaca. My brother Nick is two and a half years younger than me. He’s great to hang out with, although we can occasionally get on each other’s nerves. The ’rents have been divorced since 2005 and my father Donald moved back to Colorado where he grew up. I keep in touch with and visit both sides of my family. I also have a cat named Tattoo who lives with her sister Lazer at my mom’s place.
I am interested in men for sex and relationships. Although I am not romantically attracted to females, I would consider a tryst if it struck my fancy. I guess you could say I am very slightly homoflexible. Since 2006 I have identified as gay.
I am a member of the Comic Book Club of Ithaca (CBCI), the oldest continuously operating comic book club in the USA. I have given several presentations to the club, which hosts the two Ithacon comic book conventions each year, usually one in April and one in September.
I am also the Captain and founding member of the U.S.S. Diversity NCC-97028, the Buffalo, New York chapter of the International Federation of Trekkers (IFT), or The Federation. We in the U.S.S. Diversity NCC-97028 strive to uphold Gene Roddenberry’s vision of the future as laid out in Star Trek, and promote creativity, abolish war, materialism and money, grant healthcare, food, and shelter to all, and build a better future, where no one is discriminated against on any basis, including race, gender, sex, pregnancy status, union or marital status, familial or romantic or platonic or business relationship status, institutional bias, ethnic or social origin, color, sexual orientation or identity, personal preferences, lifestyle, age, ability, religion, conscience, belief, culture, language, home place, background, or birth.
As for my appearance, there are six things I always wear. The first is my high school graduation ring, on my right ring finger, which is gold set with alexandrite—my birthstone. As of late I have been wearing it every day, regardless of circumstance. Second is a sterling silver ring with six rainbow triangle stones. This symbolizes my pride in my sexuality. Third are my glasses, which I got in early 2008. I’m a little bit near-sighted, and although I can get by without them, the glasses help with the day-to-day. Fourth is my wristcuff with the Cullen family crest, on my right wrist, inspired by the Twilight Saga. The crest was originally created for the first Twilight film and contains three elements: the hand symbolizes faith and sincerity; the lion symbolizes strength and ferocity; and the trefoil symbolizes perpetuity. Fifth is my Brian Bracelet, on my left wrist. Those in the know can tell you that it is a symbol of gay solidarity inspired by the one worn by the Queer as Folk character Brian Kinney, as portrayed by Gale Harold. And finally, I wear a reproduction of Jake’s Beaded Choker from the climactic scene of Avatar. This symbolizes my independent spirit and will to live in harmony with the world.
