"Thank you Irina, Weird Al is funny. Hopefully the music application doesn't turn on too loudly.
We are of the same mind when it comes to findings gadgets.:-) Wait til later when the bugs are worked out."
"A PADD!!! :-D Seriously, that's great. :-D I'm careful what I buy, too. I wait until something's been out a while. I'm not one to camp out in the snow in front of some store midnight Black Friday for the latest over-priced new…"
I've been a STAR TREK fan from the beginning. My family were foreigners in a small xenophobic Connecticut town in the '60s. It was a lonely time. This may sound a bit silly today, but STAR TREK was one of the few things that gave me hope. Thank you, Mr. Roddenberry!
Though my heart will always belong to TOS -- and Capt. Kirk!!! -- I love the others, too.
Some favorite lines:
VOY: "And it's going to be a while longer." (Ha!)
DS9: "You exist here."
TOS: "No dance tonight!"
ENT: "You can't be afraid of the wind."
Non-Trek Sci-Fi Favorites:
Television: FRINGE, JERICHO, LOST, TORCHWOOD, DOCTOR WHO, DEAD LIKE ME, JEREMIAH, ODYSSEY 5, FIREFLY, FARSCAPE, WITCHBLADE, BABYLON 5, FOREVER KNIGHT, RED DWARF, TALES FROM THE DARK SIDE, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (both), LOST IN SPACE, TWILIGHT ZONE (Classic)
Movies: STARMAN, THE DEAD ZONE, ALTERED STATES, THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES, STAR WARS IV: A NEW HOPE, DARK STAR, PLANET OF THE APES
Books: Kurt Vonnegut, Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, H.P. Lovecraft, Isaac Asimov
Happily, my husband is an avid sci-fi fan, too. We "reach".
And our Clarence aka The Bear. R.I.P. How he'd smile at Gregson-Williams' NARNIA soundtrack! What a big heart he had. Are humans really the only beings with souls on this planet? I sincerely doubt it.
(Our Bear - 1994 to 2007)
Other Interests/Guilty Pleasures:
our cats, hiking, bicycling, reading, (some recent favorites: Ha Jin, E. Annie Proulx, Bill Bryson, Barbara Kingsolver), nature, natural health, Jackie Chan, Danny Kaye, anime, k-drama
IMO, one of the dearest movies of all time.
My pleasure to share my copy of:GIGOT
I found a refurbished Nook Color on Overstock dot com. installed an Android SD chip so it acts like a tablet. or for us Trekkies, a PADD. :-D Later I think I'll invest in the Nook Color Tablet and get another Andorid chip with much more memory. The newer device will have more internal memory, camera and such, plus external memory extension. Another Data PADD to add to my collection. I like gadgets but am careful what and I buy one.
Nothing like a good book to read. :-) I've a book problem as I read so quickly, I can't keep enough around. it is one reason I've decided to go digital. A few microSD chips can hold libraries worth of book and take up very little space. ;-)
:-) To laugh is a very good thing. Read Spock's World. Amanda Greyson said something to Surak that caused him to laugh so hard,he was on floor in tears. He laughed for an hour. Later she was explaining a concept that had him going again. So as he's full Vulcan following Sarek's Disciplines,of mastering the passions. He seemed a very balanced personable being, with a great sense of humour. :-)
Yes I have indeed been neglectful. But in my case that reason has been a little bundle of joy. Who isn't so little or needy anymore she'll be three this summer. She has absorbed (or been allowed to absorb) most of my time. But she's older now so I have time to be back.
Thanks for the comment on my photo in St. Lucia. That was a perfect cruise-I got to hit 8 Caribbean islands and it all went off without a hit and with perfect weather. Sigh! Enjoy your new place with the coming beautiful weather!!!
No problem. We all get busy. I am happy to know that you enjoyed the cake and hope that you enjoyed it with some fine Saurian brandy! Wow! I love that TZ episode of Twilight zone with Takei. He was brilliant. It was a real hard hitting episode, I just wish it had a better ending. Never saw it before until about 10 years ago when I bought it on VHS. Thanks for the compliment on my page. I like the Spock/Uhura love story.
"Excelent. (Taps comm badge) Number One...please report to the bridge. S'Ran out. (looks over at Counselor Gaelle) Commander, I want you to join Dr. Zimmerman and Admiral Scott. I believe it's time we woke up our new found friends.…"
"I'm not as concerned about the wave as much as I worry about the repercussions of the wave. (Very determined look as My first Officer and I must be thinking the same thing by the look on our faces).
Mr Parker...plot a course for us…"
