Mike replied to Spot Speaks's discussion Has "Into the Darkness" brought you into the new light of Star Trek?
"I guess this is how I ultimately see the new franchise: It's not it's not the same Star Trek that I'm used to, but it's not disappointing either. "

Mike replied to Spot Speaks's discussion Has "Into the Darkness" brought you into the new light of Star Trek?
"Into Darkness, though it is a great sci-fi thriller, is not Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek. Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek is more intellect with some action. J.J. Abrams Star Trek is some action, with some more action, and throw out some…"

"I plan to see it Friday morning in Imax/3D, I rarely go to the movies, but for Star Trek I make the exception and I want to do it right, hence the Imax/3D. I might wear my Klingon shirt I got from Star Trek The Experience a few years back."

About Me:
I’m into things like physics and astronomy. I have a telescope that I use sometimes. I love scifi. I’m a Trekker who likes my tea “earl grey hot.” Ok that was corny ;-) I have never been to a convention, but will probably go to one eventually. I also collect things like mugs and books that I actually do get around to reading. I would rather go to a museum than a theme park. I sometimes brag to my coworkers about my 3 TB of hard drive space and 4 core processor. I’m a part time student working on my BS; and I learned more math in Space Science than I did in Calculus. I also like Medieval, British, and American history.

Star Trek Medical Headband

A Star Trek like headband that can weaken migraine headaches. It reminds me of the device that Dr. McCoy used on Checkov in "The Voyage Home." Read the article in the Daily Mail below.

Why Free Enterprise is the best geek movie ever.

This movies portrays Trekkies/Trekkers as we really are... cool, fun to party with, and incredibly intellectual. The film also sort of "mind melds" everything that's important in life together. These are things like friendship, love, money and of course Star Trek. For every man out there looking for his Clair, it gives him hope. For every woman out there trying to figure out her Robert, it gives her help. For everyone else just looking to be entertained, it gives…

TREK TECH

Here are some Star Trek technologies that have been invented since they were originally dreamed up in our favorite episodes and movies.

The replicator

Additive Manufacturing Machines are also called 3D Printers. Similar to how the Star Trek Replicator builds an object by precisely arranging its atoms to the desired structure, these machines build an object by precisely spraying a basic raw material out of a print head…

Hi Mike,
Thanks for extending the hand of friendship! By the way, I am originally from NYC. I miss it! Where are you going to school? I went to Hunter. You sound interesting! What's your fave NYC Museum? I love the Cloisters, but the AMNH is a close second. And Happy belated birthday!
