The time has come for me to not be silent anymore. By urging of The Holy Spirit I am going to share with you now my testimony. I have been assured that lives and souls will be saved by this word, so please, please, please, pass it on. Someone needs to hear this. I serve an awesome God. Bigger than your wildest imaginings. Here is my story:
Over the last 11 years I have suffered from an addiction, one that nearly cost me everything. I O.D.’ed x4 and stopped breathing once in this time frame. So, there but by the grace of God go I, literally! For God breathed into me the breath of life once again that day, and I am grateful He did so that I would not die in my sins. When I stopped breathing was in a room full of 6 people, and all they did was take my credit card and steal my car. I could very well have ended up in a ditch that morning. But God chose to spare me, and this testimony is why. I prayed for over 5 years for deliverance from this addiction, to no avail. I could not stop myself, even to save my life. I stole to support my addiction, even from my own mother; something I never thought I would ever do. I cheated people, and used people; all to get my drugs. This is pretty typicalthough of some addictions, so don’t be to surprised.
Last year, I finally had enough. Facing the streets as my home, I turned myself into rehabilitation. This was a three month program, and I even graduated. Yet, I was not quite through. I fell again into what had become my normal routine over the last 10 years. And was soon using worse than before. It took another 4 months and a episode outside a fellow users house of passing out in his driveway, 3 times; to make me realize that if I did not stop my next party would probably be the grave for me. At this time I checked myself into a Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center. This was the best move of my life.
It only took me 2 months of a 6 month program to finally yield myself to Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. This time I was finally delivered. As of the time of this testimonial I have been clean now for 161 days. Thanks to the loving grace and delivering power of my Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ, I am truly free today. This does not mean that I have not had urges. However, they are no longer so overwhelming that I cannot resist them. Every time an urge hits, I stop and utter a prayer (sometimes silent), and it goes away in a short amount of time.
If you are reading this today, and you have a similar problem; let me assure you that you can count on Him also. He would love nothing more than to help you with your issues. All you have to do is place your trust in Him, and He will lead you through. And if the Jesus thing bothers you, then at least go find yourself an AA or CA or NA group, or any A you need; just seek help please. But don’t fool yourself as to the true source of the “Higher Power” and He will reveal Himself to you. If you are not having similar issues, but you know someone who is, please let them read this and pray for them. Then give glory to God for His faithfulness to us in times of trial. He lives, He delivers, and He will carry you through every trial you face. Only believe.
Thank you for your time and attention to this, my testimonial of the goodness of God. May He bless you richly in this life and the one to come. Amen.
