Yes
About Me:
Hello. Hola. Konnichi wa. Salve(te). Wassheil. Guten Tag. Selamat. Kia Ora.... whatever else.

First Disclaimer: I am hopeless at making profiles and introducing myself and stuff like that. Get me to make something up about something that is -- well -- made-up, no problem. Self-introductions... Scary as hell.

Bear Hugz for all my Trekspace mates. Trekspace, Star Trek, especially DS9 are all super wikkid.

The city of Dunedin in case anyone cares is in South Island of New Zealand -- close to but not qute on the 46th parallel (Latitude). But I have also lived in Victoria (born in Melbourne) New South Wales and Tasmania in Australia, and the Prefecture of Ehime in Japan. ~YES, I do speak Japanese.

My favourite things in the world to do are to write fiction and to watch movies and Deep Space Nine. Mostly, almost by default really, the kind of stuff I have written generally tends to belong in the fantasy genre. I recently started toying with fanfic (since late '07.) and honestly, posted on the interwebs for the sake of semi-anonymity ~ hiding "in plain sight" to keep it concealed from family members.

In case yer mad enough to be halfway interested... here is a link.

One Hell of an Away Mission!

I wasn't exactly sure of how to do this, so I decided to make a picture blog of the trip that I and my mother recently took to Greece and Turkey in June / July of this year. That way you can read this if you want to, or just look at the pretty pictures.

Far Beyond the Stars -- some thoughts.

This is not going to be another attempt to explain what Far Beyond the Stars is *about* – as I honestly believe that it is about many things. I intend to explore only one small facet of the episode: How Benny Russell’s workplace becomes a symbol (or microcosm) of the wider oppressive environment. By this, I hope to pose the question: Where do we find the source of this evil? Or to put it more simply, who is the bad guy?

You might think initially – even Rene Auberjonois says something…

When The Rain is Not Forgiven

A short story from when I was fifteen years old (This is a small example of some early work of mine) which I found while ferreting through boxes at my parents' place in Tassie.

Enjoy.

Cultural Sovereignty in the Bajoran Sector: An essay.

This is an essay I wrote about a year ago. I'm sharing it here now because I have some extra thoughts to add, and am curious to see what people think on the subject, and also just for the sake of it.

Cultural Sovereignty in the Bajoran Sector

In the words of Captain Jean Luc Picard, the Bajora "were architects and artists, builders and philosophers when humans were not yet standing fully erect."…

Star Trek Into Darkness: Spoiler Alert

In the tradition of David Letterman, I now present not one but two top 10 lists of everything that I liked and didn't like about the latest Star Trek movie, starting with the positive. So here we go...10: Lots of action. I know many people complain that this was nothing but an action movie that just happened to have Star Trek in the title, but I would rather sit through this again, than go back in time 30 years to sit through Star Dreck: The Motionless Picture, where nobody does anything but…See More

The latest Trek movie.

A quote I read on Facebook: "Don't bankroll the intellectual desolation of the franchise by paying to see the latest film by J. J. Abrams. I have to believe you have better things to spend money on than encouraging Star Trek to be more about explosions and less about finding humanity in the void."
