This is not going to be another attempt to explain what Far Beyond the Stars is *about* – as I honestly believe that it is about many things. I intend to explore only one small facet of the episode: How Benny Russell’s workplace becomes a symbol (or microcosm) of the wider oppressive environment. By this, I hope to pose the question: Where do we find the source of this evil? Or to put it more simply, who is the bad guy?
