March 18: On This Day In Science Fiction History

Actor J.G. Hertzler certain knows what Star Trek fans would love to see, and that's why he'll occasionally show up at conventions in full costume and make-up as Martok, the Klingon he played on STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE.  Hertlzer was born on this day in…

March 17: On This Day In Science Fiction History

The STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION two-parter "Redemption" gets an awful lot of credit for igniting a frenzy amongst Trek fans to further study on the Klingon race, but, for my tastes, there was no better highwater mark than third season's "Sins of the…

March 16: On This Day In Science Fiction History

1984's THE ICE PIRATES is a mixed bag for me.  I vaguely recall seeing it theatrically, but I honestly don't remember thinking all that much of it.  Others I know remember it much more fondly than I do.  Robert Urich takes the lead in this comic sci-fi…

End of Phase 1

Finished the 1st draft of my new science fiction novel on Thursday. Still a long way to go, but after working on it for over a year, it feels GREAT to have reached this point. So break out the Saurian brandy & lock up your daughters, 'cause I'm celebrating!

March 15: On This Day In Science Fiction History

On this day in 1956, humanity began what many cinema historians dubbed "a new age in science fiction" when audiences embraced FORBIDDEN PLANET for the first time: a starship crew headed by Commander JJ Adams (Leslie Nielsen) is sent to the planet Altair-4 in hopes of determining what happened to the…

Uniform Finished

Got it done and for more information on the pictures I've posted here about them, please visit my personal website:

Smokeykit's Dreams

Been busy as I get ready for the Emerald City Comicon this month, so I've not been online much. =^-^= Hopefully that changes as the first uniform is now done. The second one will be started soon and hopefully it'll be a bit better as I get more experience in doing such work. And…

Writer's Tech Manual finished.

Well.  It is finally finished.

I have thrown a few tidbits around over the last year or so, but finally the Wolverine Studios & Machinima Star Trek Technical Manual is finished.

Well, finished enough to copyright anyway.

I still have some clean up to do before I consider publishing.

In case anyone is wondering, the Tech Manual is a compilation of all the notes and research I have done over the years while writing a few screenplays; wondering exactly how this bit of…

Top 5 Movies of 2013, In my opinion

5 Bullet To The Head: Not science fiction or fantasy, but since it’s based on a graphic novel, it just barely qualifies to be on this list. It’s the sort of gritty, nasty, pulpy crime story that I’ve always loved. It also proves something that I’ve always known. Stallone and I might be getting a little long in the tooth, but we’ve still got it.

4…

USS Ohio Anniversary Dinner

The USS Ohio held its anniversary dinner yesterday.  In attendance from the celebrating starship were Vice Admiral Barbara Buffington, Fleet Captain Janet Wagoner, and a young Human, somebody’s relative.  Representing the USS Arizona was Admiral Roger Scritchfield. Heads Up! THE X-FILES' Creator Chris Carter Launches New Program, "The After," On Amazon.com

Hey folks!  Just thought I'd do you a solid and let you know that Chris Carter -- the guy behind THE X-FILES television show -- recently wrote and shot a pilot for a new program.  It's streaming on Amazon.com, and it's called "The After."  I've watched it; it's a drama kinda/sorta about the…

Costumes, or is that Uniforms?

Anyway, I finally found a place for the fabric i need and just got that order done. Should be here in a week or two. Took forever to find a place that had the teal color needed in the cotton/spandex fabric I'm using instead of the wool twill. So once that gets here, I can get to work on the uniform. I will be doing everything by hand since I don't have a sewing machine. This is gonna be interesting as this is the first thing I've done that will be a lot of hand sewing. Cat tails are easy in…

OK, I'm building a Klingon colony like my Federation colony and I'm wondering what all I should put in it. More mountains? More forest? More water/no water? The building are very much the same with a few changes but I would like ideas on landscapes.…

Where Do the Vulcans Go From Here?

JJ Abrams has made many, many changes to the Star Trek we know and love. Some of them have been great, innovative, and some of them not so good.  I was unsure about seeing the first film, but went because I have a dear older friend who desired my company. I have to say on the whole I was pleasantly surprised with Star Trek XI. I was enjoying it, for the most part. And then got the body-slam of first Vulcan exploding and then Spock's mother dying.  It took a little bit for my head to catch up…See More
