The Start of Something Big (I hope)

My new science fiction novel, "Gone A-Viking," went on sale on Thursday on Kindle, and has already sold 4 copies. Not exactly Stephen King, but it's still the most books I've ever sold in such a short amount of time. If anyone here was one of the buyers, you have my eternal gratitude!

Jeffrey Combs to Perform “Nevermore: An Evening With Edgar Allan Poe” in Boston

I think Jeffrey Combs is my favorite actor of the entire Star Trek franchise.  While I'm disappointed that (so far) he isn't coming to Boston for the Creation con, I did find out that he's bringing his EA Poe performance to Boston for Halloween!

More details here:

Original or Copy

Star Trek TOS episode "The Changeling" vs Vger.

An Earth probe gains sentience and threatens the Enterprise and consequently Earth.

Anyone see the similarity or is it just me?

Star Trek: Outpost crew at SL Sci-Fi Convention

I had a fun time this morning while taking part in a panel that was put together for Star Trek: Outpost at the Sci-Fi Convention that is taking place all this week on Second Life.  I got to hang with Dan Macintosh, Tony Raymond, and Katie Gomez and met with other virtual attendees.  We discussed Outpost, how we each got involved, did a little Q&A, and did a little debating on the JJ-verse.  It was the first time I'd actually gone into Second Life, so it's a good thing all I had to do was…

Need Tech Help Here, Trekkers!

Right. I'm proofing the final draft of my new novel, when I come across several pages that have a line of dots, like army ants, going right across the page. The remedy laid out in "Windows 2010 for Dummies" didn't work, which I suppose means that it was written BY dummies.

I can't submit this until this has been corrected, so if anyone has any Scotty/Geordi/O'Brien/Torres/Trip aspirations, sing out! If your suggestion works out, I'll mention you in the…

Movie Review: X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Is An Ambitious Spectacle With Hollow Characters (Some Spoilers)

Full disclosure right up front: I’ve always been much more of a DC guy than I ever was a Marvel.  It isn’t as if I don’t enjoy the Marvel Universe because I probably do as much if not more than the next casual moviegoer.  It’s just that I’ve never been all that enamored with Marvel’s “we’re all different now”…

Adverts Without Logos

Did you see them too? Maybe it's just me, as I do tend to point them out to my wife and kids. Something simple to laugh about, as we see such things in most movies. I don't mean the silly commercials that are designed around bits and pieces of a movie or actors/scenes…

I Got That Opening A Present Feeling

I just want to say I very much enjoyed and have always liked Star Trek IV, ever since it came out in theaters. It was the most crucial movie to answer many questions I had from the previous movies and characters. It always makes me feel like a kid in a candy store, makes me…

Second Uniform started

First thing I did was clear a space for the work.

Then checked the patterns before laying them down on the black or teal fabrics. I used yellow chalk (didn't have white, which would work just as well; it's kids chalk, used for outside on concrete surfaces and worked fine on the fabric and washed out nicely) to outline the pattern pieces instead of pinning them to the fabric. That saves the pattern from being torn every time one used the pins.

Once the pattern…

"I suppose that this is real, but it doesn't really tell us a whole lot, does it? One thing: the supposed leaked footage of the millennium falcon in a space battle is fake. The fans who created it have already owned up to the whole thing."
