The social network for Star Trek Fans!
. . . I'm wishing for everyone in this New Year 2011! 2010 was pretty ok for me although nothing special
I watched or began to watch several sci-fi shows in 2010. Best of all, but really not pleasant
(because of its intense darkness in almost every way) is "Battlestar
Galactica", the new version by Star Trek author and director Ronald D.
Moore.
Before I watched that one I first enjoyed the old two shows from the 70s and the early 80s on
DVD. The old BSG (Yeah, I know the abbreviation now, I'm just a little late....
*lol*) was also a good show and fun to watch.
Compared to Moore's version, it seems pretty innocent, funny and light. It has its dark moments, too. But never too dark and never really desperate.
All that completely changed with the new show. It's pure darkness and desperation and there's
almost no hope for anyone. And when there is one, this show certainly finds a
way to destroy it...ugh. Nevertheless, it's ABSOLUTELY BRILLLIANT! One of the
best, if not TH E BEST sci-fi show of the past decade! WAY better than, for
example, the horrible third season of ENTERPRISE which was also very
dark, but also very bad in a lot of aspects.
Instead, "Battlestar" did everything right despite its darkness. Brilliant
scripts, scenery and acting. Wow, the acting is soooo good that it's even
scaring sometimes. These people did miracle works with the scripts and the
stories! I nearly couldn't believe myself that I loved everything about this
bleak and dire story which this show tells us. It even gives me a little shiver
when I think about it.... But yeah, it certainly belongs among the best TV
shows of all times!
For Christmas, my eldest nephew made me a wonderful present - the "fur box" with all "ALF" episodes on DVD.
I luuuuv ALF, the TV show, to pieces since many, many years! Anyone here who also loves ALF?
What's interesting is that this series actually sounds better to me in the dubbed German version.
Well, you probably know that in Germany EVERYTHING on TV or cinema is synchronized.
As for ALF, the German voice of the little furry alien is really unique,
especially his laughing *smiles*. Ok, I guess it depends on where you live
which version you'll like better. Anyway, "ALF" is one of the first
sitcoms I learned to love.
Now, since a few years, we (as sci-fi fans) have a new sitcom show to enjoy - "The Big Bang
Theory". Actually, I found out about that not last year but the already in
2009 when it came to German TV. But I was only able to watch the first two
seasons there. So I ordered the third one with Amazon.com...and I'm happy it
arrived last week. I can't wait to watch these episodes I didn't catch yet.
Live long and prosper!

THE BEST sci-fi show of the last decade is, imho, "The 4400". I was really angry when they cancelled that wonderful series. It had a great storyline and brilliant actresses and actors - and it's much more fun than BSG *gg*
