Bulletin: LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!

I have been corresponding with Marc Cushman, writer of “These Are the Voyages: An Episode-by-Episode History of the Original Star Trek, "the book to end all books" on the original Star Trek.  Here is the latest:

The manuscript is so massive (over 1,500 pages!), that the publisher has seriously been thinking of breaking it into three volumes, one devoted to each season of TOS!  The book (or books) will be an in-depth study of the Classic 79 episodes.  Information has been drawn from the Star Trek production files, which contain all the various drafts of the scripts, plus notes from the staff and network on each, unproduced stories and scripts, and the production reports giving the dates and location of everything that was shot.  In addition, Cushman interviewed over 100 participants from the original series, including writers, producers, directors, crew members, and actors. 

Contracts were signed late last year with Conlan Press, which is a niche publishing house based in San Francisco, specializing in science fiction and fantasy, as well as nonfiction about both.  The publisher’s hope was to have Volume 1, covering the pilots and the 28 additional episodes of Season 1, out now (summer 2012).  Volume 2 (season 2) was planned for Christmas, with Volume 3 (season 3) targeted Spring of 2013.  Now it is looking more like Volume 1 won’t be out until just before Christmastime this year, with the other two volumes trailing into early and even mid ’13.

My memory tells me that it was a write-in campaign that saved Star Trek from cancellation on NBC in 1968.  The fans made themselves heard then, and can do it again.  So what are we waiting for? Please help – write Conlan Press today! LET’S GO FOR IT!!!  Let’s try to rouse THE TREKKIE NATION worldwide and show the publisher our enthusiasm for this landmark one-of-a-kind Star Trek book.
