The social network for Star Trek Fans!
Just some more random stream of consciousness to spew out of my brain.
This week, I have been mostly using LCARS 47. This is a cracking peice of flash software that lets you turn your windows PC into a Star Trek console. There are multiple versions to use Vexillum and Prolixus which are based on the traditional LCARS displays seen in 24th century trek. I’ve barely scratched the surface, but it provides ambient sounds, webcam functionality, plus recreations of key ship functions.
Anticuus and Hasta are currently in beta. Neverthless Anticuus offers a recreation of the Classic Movie Era computer system, while Hasta is based on the technology of everyone’s favourite warrior race, the Klingons, there is even a very early version of a Borg Interface Alvearium.
There are lots of people here on the Tspace, who like to make their own interfaces and graphics, as well as fan films. If I were doing any of these, I would use this software, as its very customisable. Highly recommended. More info is here
Elsewhere. My club, the USS Ark Royal now stands at an amazing 22 members – the highest since it launched. If you're interested in finding out more about this UK chapter of STARFLEET International, drop me a line at co@ark-royal.org
I was at the USS Fortitude’s Trekology 2012 event in Manchester during August. It was another terrific weekend with friends, I got to meet Dominic “Reed” Keating. I won the quiz on the Saturday, (I lost out on the Sunday one). But it was a weekend in celebration of Trek. If you can get to Manchester UK on the 27th and 28th July 2012, I highly recommend that you come along and have some fun!
Looking ahead, I’m off to an Evening with John Billinsgley in Coventry This should be a great event, and I hope to meet some new friends.
Then its off to the Starbase 24 Banquet in October. This is really the event that got me into the Trek Scene, and without it, I honestly don’t know where I would be today!
Thats about it from me. See you out there!
