One of our local newspapers has a section called "Planet Bizarro". And the following news item was featured:

Strathclyde,Scotland police said recently that six of its officers and two civilian staff have listed their religion as "Jedi" in voluntary diversity forms....Jane's Police Review editor Chris Herbert said:"The Force appears to be strong in Strathclyde Police. Far from living a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, some members of the noble Jedi order have now chosen Glasgow and its surrounding streets as their home." A strathclyde Police spokeswoman said that the police force monitered "six strands of diversity" -- age, disablity, gender, race, religion and belief, and sexual orientation. The force said the information was provided volutarily and securely stored. In the 2001 Census for England and Wales around 390.000 people stated their religion as "Jedi". The Office for National Statistics did not recognize it as a separate category, and incorporated them with the atheists.
