The social network for Star Trek Fans!

It's sooo great - since several weeks, I watch TNG on DVD, again. It's actually my second time after seven years. I can't believe how fast time is passing *sigh*.
As many Trekkers, I saw each episode already so many times (mostly in the 90s on videotape), I can't count anymore. But after a kind of seven-years-abstinence (witch was, of course, not complete because I use to be preoccupied with TNG stuff all the time *g*), I realize once more that EVERY TNG EPISODE is just the best thing that EVER happened to and on TV! I definitely know: It won't get any better. Maybe (but just maybe...?) there will once be a show JUST as good as TNG. But that didn't happen yet, imho. I love this series to pieces. It feels like a place at home, an adventurous, friendly and trustworthy space I can enter and relax and rejoice.

Speaking of TV shows, there aren't much of interest on German TV right now. BUT, some weeks ago, finally The Big Bang Theory came to our TV. What can I say? I loved it from the first episode on! I'm not much of a sitcom viewer, never been, and there are only two that I consider completely "watchable". The first is "Alf", which is no question the best sitcom EVA, and than there's the 7th season of "Growing Pains", because my ONE AND ONLY Leonardo DiCaprio is in it *double sigh*

But with "Big Bang", it was almost "love at first sight". It's interesting, nerdy, witty, emotional and funny at the same time. I really didn't think that was even possible with a sitcom - but it's there!
These four guys shed a light on the human condition, like every good artwork (from sculptures and paintings to literature to film and TV series etc.) does. They act like real people, not like sitcom characters, although and/or just because they're really nerdy and individualistic. I look forward to every episode...and I have a little crush on "Leonard" (played by Johnny Galecki) *smiles*
Are there other fans of this series on TREKSPACE? I'm curious....

I bought a lot of DVDs lately, including all ten seasons of "Stargate SG1". A friend of mine is very passionate about "Stargate", and I guess, with most SciFi shows, you can't go wrong even if they're probably not as good as TREK.. I never saw a single episode on TV, but I'm looking forward to watching it (after my TNG round, of course). Right before I started watching TNG, again, I watched "Battlestar Galactica"(the original series) , again - this time on DVD. The first two seasons are great...I remembered not too much, because I hadn't seen all of it back in the 80s. Strangly, I remembered the 3th season (where the main characters had changed) best - at least one episode located in NYC.
And before watching that, I had a quite unpleasant "encounter" with "24", third season. I bought this one because I wanted to see Zachary Quinto (my second fav actor....the very first is...you guess it when you really read this post to this point - LEONARDO DICAPRIO). But Zachary plays only a minor role in this...but I liked him in it, anyway. What I didn't and don't like is the plot and almost everything else in that show. I couldn't even watch the whole season...broke it up in the middle..lol. What a crap!
As for Zachary Quinton, I love him as "Sylar" in "Heroes". There he really kicks....*gg* There are two action figures of his characters - Sylar and Spock. And I got both, of course. The Spock figure is quite big (similar to a Barbie doll, I guess). I like the "Sylar" figure better (*smiles*)....it looks more like Zach and it has a baseball cap and a hand who throws a glass-power beam....hehe. The Spock figure comes with two hands, too. One shows the Vulcan sign.
Here is a pic of my Spock figure::

Thanks for your comment! I love to hear the opinions of other Trek fans.
Hmm...actually I consider these lines you quoted from Picard quite funny. It doesn't diminish my respect for him. Anyway, I don't think of TNG as a "Picard-Show". In fact, Data has always been my fav TNG character. But I love them all - including Wesley Crusher.
I've got a question to you: What is BSG? I can't make anything out of it...?!?

I missed Big Bang, but hear it was a laugh a minute - especially because we all know folks just like that (if it ain't us to start with!)

Can't agree on TNG, though. After my several year hiatus, after starting over again, I had the chance to see just what a dottering old fool Picard really was. "Should we talk more, or does that break the Prime Directive?" ... "I think I'll go stare out my window for a bit, see if an answer swings by" ....

Sorry. I think Riker was one awesome character, though. I mean, anyone with a John Wayne walk like that can't be all bad!

I think it's time for a real series ... ST: Empire!

Now, as for best on TV ... I was really caught off guard with the new BSG! THAT has been some of the best writing and acting TV has had in a LONG time. Just amazing. No questions about it.
