What a cool thing I discovered yesterday! I watched TNG eps "Violations". That story is about a visit of some aliens on the Enterprise who are able to access - and manipulate - people's memories, even if they're very deep hidden in the mind. They do that telepathically. One of them is ausing other people through this ability. He manipulates memories by putting false images and information into the mind of his victiims.
I'm really excited that in the episode, even the same term is used as in the description for Christpher Nolan's next movie to come out, "Inception": "The architecture of the mind"..Wow! I read that in Nolan's movie, the manipulation is made by injections which inable people to access other person's dreams. But dreams and memories arent't very far from each ohter, I think. The only difference maybe that dreams usually can't be controlled by the dreamer or anyone else - but in the movie that maybe the crucial point. In "Violations", memories are somewhat forced into the minds of the victims, so they're used for purposes beyond their control.
The voiceover in the new "Inception" trailer (done by LEONARDO, of course, since he's playing the lead *yikes*) says that he has to steal ideas/dreams: "An idea can transform the world and rewrite all the rules.. Which is why I have to steal it.".
Of course, I don't know how much similarities really exist between "Violations" and "Inception", but I'm already excited that are some *smiles*, and I'm most certainly excited of the prospect to see Leonardo in a Sci-Fi movie!!! I can't wait...!
