This movies portrays Trekkies/Trekkers as we really are... cool, fun to party with, and incredibly intellectual. The film also sort of "mind melds" everything that's important in life together. These are things like friendship, love, money and of course Star Trek. For every man out there looking for his Clair, it gives him hope. For every woman out there trying to figure out her Robert, it gives her help. For everyone else just looking to be entertained, it gives them William Shatner, brilliant as always, in his 'No Tears For Caesar.' Finally the film eloquently reminds us that often in life, "Risk, Risk is our business."

I enjoyed the movie, but I gotta say that I think you're giving "all Trekkies" a bit too much credit. We are good and bad, really smart and really stupid, etc. just like everybody else. I used to think/hope that everybody who was into Trek was cool, but was rudely awakened some time ago. Ever been to the Vegas Con? A concentration of the worst of Trekdom, but with some really great folks, too. I kinow that wasn't your main point. Free Enterprise is an interesting pic, just be careful about recommending it to people with little kids. I did that once and got some flak for all the cursing and sexual references.
Comment by Mike on September 23, 2012 at 3:10pm No matter how many times I see it, it never stops being funny as hell! Everything from their obsessions with action figures to the mid-to late 80s soundtrack reminded me so much of my own life that it was scary. Since it was made back in the 90s, the technology and fashions do now seem a bit dated, but other than that the story of looking for love in a world that hates geeks is timeless. Whenever I go into a comic book store, I can't help but wonder, "Will I find my Claire today?" LOL!
Comment by James on September 23, 2012 at 1:17pm Hey i just watched this last week, I agree with trekscribbler, it was ok, I liked Trekkies 1 & 2 better.
Meh. I struggled with this one a bit. I think it definitely hones in on true geekdom, but, for my tastes, I preferred the first TREKKIES flick quite a bit more.
